Shady Coffee & Tea in Roseville fits the profile of a neighborhood cafe where locals come for more than just a caffeine fix. Tucked along Douglas Boulevard, this spot blends quality coffee with a laid-back atmosphere that feels inviting yet quietly reminiscent of a local living room. It’s a great place to settle in whether you want a quick coffee to go or a leisurely morning with a book or laptop.

The cafe’s strength lies in its balanced menu of classic and inventive drinks alongside simple, satisfying bites. Cappuccinos and vanilla lattes hold their own, but the iced options like the traditional Americano and more playful choices like the iced white mocha or Thai Passion Tea with coffee add variety for those who appreciate a twist. The food menu supports that casual vibe with comforting picks like avocado toast, a range of sandwiches including a veggie option and grilled cheese, and fresh salads including chicken Caesar and cranberry chicken. A few sweet touches like blueberry scones and a raspberry lemon cake round out the experience.

Shady offers both indoor and outdoor seating, including a particularly cozy “cave” style nook that tends to attract folks looking for a quieter corner to read, study, or work. This quieter hideaway makes it a favored stop for introverts or anyone seeking a break from busier, noisier coffee spots. Early mornings or mid-afternoons on weekdays are especially comfortable times to visit if you want to enjoy the more peaceful side of the cafe.

The staff play a major role in shaping the environment here. Friendly and knowledgeable, they foster a welcoming atmosphere that feels less like a transactional coffee run and more like a place to connect with neighbors. This attitude, along with a well-executed drive-thru option, makes it easy to swing by whether you’re grabbing a to-go coffee or lingering over a hot chai or lemony tea fusion.

Local regulars seem to appreciate the dependable quality in both drinks and food without the frills—avocado toast is a staple, even if it’s a bit simpler than some expect, and sandwiches like the Turkey bagel or crunchy BLT appeal to those looking for hearty but uncomplicated fare. The pastry selection complements the drinks well, appealing to those who seek a casual snack alongside their brew.

Overall, Shady Coffee & Tea feels like a cafe that quietly anchors part of the Roseville neighborhood, serving a mixed crowd of early risers, remote workers, study-focused students, and casual visitors. It’s a comfortable stop for anyone who values a calm, community-oriented space with solid coffee and straightforward, tasty bites.

Have always been a huge fan of this cafe! I recently moved back into town and came by for a coffee & bagel and it’s just as good as ever (:

Shady has mastered the balance between excellent service and quality drinks. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, feeling less like a coffee shop and more of a third place to engage with the local community. Highly recommend

Good fresh coffee. Nice employees. This cafe is so cute. There is inside seating and outside seating as well. They do have a drive thru as well. They have some delicious pasteries! The BLT sandwich was delicious! The bacon was delicious and crunchy. The mango lemonade was so delicious!!! It's definitely a great cafe.

Mmmm good atmosphere. Probably a really good coffee shop for introverts to study as it's got a more private, less busy feel. Love the little "cave" inside you can sit in. Best spot when there isnt anyone else in there. Bomb dessert hot chocolate. I love their lemonade tea combos too like the sunflower drink. Turkey bagel is bomb so is their veggie sandwich.

1st time here, ordered avocado toast but surprised that it did not have an egg and tomatoes like in the previous post, but it was still good. Raspberry lemon cake was way to sweet for us. Ordered matcha with coconut and it was perfect for me. Ice latte was a bit sweet.

First time here. Small cozy coffee place. Very dark inside and mainly small tables so not ideal for a bigger group than 3 per table. Tried their hot mocha and avocado toast. Nice work on presentation on the mocha. Avocado toast was very simple which is why the price was also lower than other places with a fancier version. Good local coffee place if you are nearby.

Vernon Street adjacent. Cool café off of Douglas Blvd near Old Town Roseville. I love the neat little cubbies inside mimicking a old school train car and the large shaded patio area. Coffee is on point. There's a great menu if you are hungering for a bite to eat. If you are looking for a funky and unique place to grab some java Shady Coffee & Tea fits the bill.

I was in the mood for another matcha of COURSE and decided to head back to Roseville to fill that want! This coffee shop was right up my alley in regard to the atmosphere and being able to be in a living room away from my living room. Full of plants, pictures, art and much more. I was a little confused on the parking situation upon arrival. This coffee shop seems to have had someone outside taking orders, once I recognized that, I backed out of that line and parked on the street. I got their Matcha latte with cane sugar as the sweetener of choice. Although I do appreciate a sweet Matcha I like to taste new coffee shop matchas as is, and I was not disappointed. I also got their Apple scone as well. Although very, very good as is, for the next time I will probably ask if they can warm it up. I ended up taking my five month old daughter with me and that can be frightening every now and again, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I usually am an outside sitter but due to it being a bit chilly I decided to stay inside absolutely lovely When it was time to go, I ended up taking the patio exit and if you do decide to come, and you have a stroller it’s not entirely stroller friendly so just keep that in mind I will definitely be back and bringing friends for the next time thank you so much for an incredible time!
